As a volunteer run club, we are always in need of support from members and parents of our young athletes.
We urgently need help in several areas and would love to hear from you.
- We need volunteers to collect in money and fill in the register of athletes attending training on Monday and Wednesday night sessions. This is a 15 minute job each time and we are hoping to get 8 people who could then rotate this job on a monthly basis. At present, we are using coaches or athletes to do this and this means that they are late for the coaching session on the track or field.
- After the recent resignation of our previous male welfare volunteer, GAC need a gentleman to work alongside the female welfare volunteer, to be available for the junior club athletes. This is a very important position in the club as a safeguarding role, and training will be given. Duties are limited and to date rarely needed, however, we need to be prepared should this service be called on. The main role will oversee the checking the documentation submitted by our club volunteers for their Disclosure and Barring service checks which is not something which happens often.
- We are always looking for people who are able to help us in roles such as helping staff the tuck shop, handing out numbers and collecting match fees or helping with officiating at track and field meetings (this would be something like raking the sand in the jump events, collecting the hammer or discus in throws.
If you are able to help us, please speak with any of the club coaches or other volunteers and make yourselves known to us. The club cannot provide what it does to more than 120 athletes without the support of families so we are very keen to hear from you.
