We are so proud to be able to announce that Amy Hunt has followed up her success last year at Gateshead with a wonderful victory at the English Schools Athletics Championships in the 100 metres. This is a great achievement, if you look at the championship bests, it is littered with famous Olympians.
We haven’t seen Amy or her parents yet so don’t have photos but there are some fantastic times in the results sheets. Well done, Amy!
It is also a great reflection on our coaching team as Amy was one of three sprinters from Grantham Athletic Club representing Lincolnshire. Congratulations to Praise Olalere for his performance in the intermediate Boys 100m clocking 11.39 in an incredibly competitive heat which included 2 of the top 4 in the final. Praise also competed in the 4 x 100m for the county. Also, congratulations to Abbie Byron who was, again, in a highly competitive heat won by the eventual bronze medallist.
Getting into the Lincolnshire team is no mean feat and represents the culmination of hard work over the winter and on Monday and Wednesday night. We are very proud of our athletes and wish to publicly thank our coaches for their support and guidance for them.
Heats: Amy won her heat in 12.3s
Semis: Amy dipped under 12 seconds to win her heat.
Finals: Amy ran into a headwind of 2.6 and beat her main opponent from London with a superb 12.22 seconds.
