Cross Country News from Mark Tucker
The last quarter of 2016 had a local cross country flavour with both schools events and the Lincolnshire Runner XC League taking priority and dominating proceedings, amongst the great training and ‘parkruns’ done by all concerned.
The first quarter of 2017 sees a switch of emphasis as the big national events, including the English Schools, dominate the Cross Country landscape. I would encourage as many as possible to consider these big events – they are fantastic to be a part of with standards spanning the entry list – rest assured these are not just for elite runners – there are ‘mini races’ within races that make for a great running experience – after all only one person will ‘win’ the race, everyone else will ‘win’ their own battles whether that is against fellow, similar standard runners or just beating the course itself and getting to that finish line. These events do come with ENTRY DEADLINES and a bit of pre-race planning is required so please look below at the summary of events coming up and decide which ones are for you.
