Update from Squad Manager Bill Taylor:
The Lincs XC Squad meeting tomorrow (Saturday) takes place on Saturday 15th September at Collingham Cricket Club, Dale Field, Collingham.
Collingham is a village on the A1133 about 4 miles from Newark heading towards Newton-on-Trent and Gainsborough http://maps.google.co.uk/?q=NG237LJ
Parking is arranged for from 10.15am – Approaching from Newark direction and passing over the railway crossing and then just after West Brook Lane on the right please enter the new cricket field through the first field gate on the left. This should be signposted “RUNNERS”.
(DO NOT enter by the Cricket Club main gate nearer to the village as this is for paying caravans only this weekend!) Collingham Show is taking place on the other side of the A1133 on the same day so whole area is likely to be busy!
Please park just inside the field near the cricket nets and meet at the new pavilion to the left – there will be male and female changing rooms available.
The content of the session is primarily aimed at younger athletes (U20 and below) but will also work well for senior ladies and senior men who fancy a session of longish reps on a decent surface. (Can any seniors who plan to come let me know so that I can pull together the session to suit)
The session will be on a smooth flat grass surface that is suitable for spikes if you wish. The session assumes that athletes are in a transfer period between track focussed work and longer distance focus of Cross Country and road races in the Autumn. Athletes will no doubt be approaching the sessions in different stages of fitness so you can participate as appropriate. I will not be running the session on the stopwatch but allowing runners to direct their own effort levels.
Session will look something like the following with total workload to suit ages/abilities/fitness/forthcoming races, etc.
Warm up, drills, etc,
Tempo run (various distances)
Mixture of 8-12 figure of eight reps approx. Distances 500m between 1200m distance with threshold recovery.
Shorter Tempo run
4-8 Short strides in groups
Cool down
To assist planning of the session please let me know if you plan to attend. (Many thanks to those who have confirmed attendance already)
There will be tea and coffee facilities available for parents/supporters in the pavilion.
As always coaches and/or parents are welcome to attend the sessions. This includes participating as runners and/or assisting with direction on the day (Depending on numbers I may need a hand!)
