Thank you to everyone that turned up to run, throw or jump to raise funds for the Royal British Legion last Wednesday at the Stadium. Athletes from Grantham Athletic Club were joined by members of Belvoir Tri and Grantham Running Club to remember the sacrifice of those that died in armed conflicts ahead of Remembrance Sunday and the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended the First World War.
Younger runners and their assistants ran for 11 minutes, collecting elastic bands on their wrists every time they completed a circuit. Many runners completed seven laps in the time, which is most respectable.
82 athletes then did laps for 44 minutes, signifying the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, including a number of wheelchair athletes. Due to the variety of measurements used (laps, miles, kilometres), it’s not clear who ran the furthest, but well done to everyone that participated. While the runners did their laps, some of the other athletes took part in team long jump or team shot put, looking to jump or put 111m.

In total more than £600 was raised for the Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone that took part and raised funds.
