Friday 31.1.2020 saw Grantham Athletic Club celebrate its athletes, volunteers and successes of 2019. Held at Great Gonerby Social Club, the evening comprised of a buffet, followed by the presentation of awards and trophies, a fund-raising raffle and disco until the evening end.
Congratulations to all our athletes who achieved best of age groups and those who were awarded trophies for best in Club performances. Any award-winning athlete that was unable to attend the celebration and social night can collected their awards from the office on Wednesday training nights.
U11 Boys

Up until this point, the athletes only compete in their own age group, but from U17 and older, our athletes compete in County Championships and open matches in their age group, however, if they compete in the Northerns league matches for their club their achievements are recorded and measured as that of a Senior athlete. Therefore, some U17/U20/Vets will have a best of Senior age group performance, but not one for their own age group….

Rori Rodell U17M – 10k Road Race; 1st place in Lincolnshire Athletic Association XC League

Tom Glendinning – U17M 200m; 300m; Shot Put and awarded the Fenland Foods Young Male Athlete 200m Cup and the Windsor Young Athletes Shot Put Shield.

Isabel Hobday – U20W 1 mile, and was awarded the Mark Jarvis Ladies Mile Cup
Savannah Brook – U20W 1500m; 3000m; 5000m; 5-mile road race; and Sen W 1500m; High Jump. She was awarded the Leadley Toyota Distance Runners Cup, the Shadowline Ladies 1500m Cup and the Lunettes Ladies High Jump award.

Michael Burr – Sen M 110mH; High Jump; Long Jump; Triple Jump and Vet M High Jump. He also is awarded the Mens High Jump Cup
Stephen Hobday – Vet M 1500m; 5000m and is the Male Park Run Champion
Mark Atkin – Vet M 100m; 200m; 400m; Long Jump and Shot Put. He was also awarded the Melton Mowbray Building Society Young Investors Trophy (multi-events), The Guildhall Motors Mens 400m Shield and the Kings Hotel Mens Long Jump Cup.
The Les Peach Trophy Male Athlete in Throws which is awarded for outstanding performances went to Chris Bainbridge who broke club records in Hammer, Discus and Shot Put.
The Victor and Victrix Ludorum Trophy’s are awarded to the best male and female athlete. To be eligible the athlete must compete in five different disciplines which must include a run, throw and jump.
The Victor Ludorum is Mark Atkin and the Victrix Ludorum is Ella-Louise Asbrey
The final award of the evening was the Mike Bundy Trophy, awarded to recognise great loyalty and perseverance over a length of time the to Club. This year it is awarded to The Bainbridge Family.
