We are so proud to report that Amy Hunt has continued her great progress this season with another championship victory.
Report from Ian Richards:
Following her victory at the English Schools Championships in July, Amy Hunt has now become the national champion in the u15 girls sprint. She has been consistently top of the national rankings throughout the year and deservedly assumes the accolades.
There was a rather reserved performance in the heat before settling down to win her semi final in a time of 12.16sec in very changeable weather conditions. Typically Amy saved her best until the final and took command almost from the start, controlling the race and finishing in a time of 11.96secs, just outside her PB.
Apart from the odd end of year outing, Amy can now look back on a very successful two years in the u15 age group, take a few short breaths, before setting her sights on the next two years of u17 competition. There will be testing times ahead, not only in athletics, but also in personal development and academic advancement. But Amy is very determined and, with the help of her family and the coaching team at Grantham Athletic Club, there is no reason why she should not successfully develop further.
Well done to Amy, we are so proud of you.
