National Cross Country Relays Report

This event took place on Saturday 6th November 2021 at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield.

This event has been held here for a number of years given its central location in the country. With top flight athletes who compete for the UK, over 70 teams entered from across the UK from the southern point of  Cornwall to the north of Scotland in this event which is high up on the events calendar list.

 

Our under 13 boys were first on the challenging muddy 2k course. Theo Bacon ran the first leg with a time of 8 mins 36. Next to go was Alex Holt, managing to overtake a few competitors and finishing in 9 mins 45. Last off was Ellis Baker who with a good performance after injury with a time of 10 mins 04. Overall the team finished 63rd of 80 teams.

 

Our under 13 girls team first leg was ran by Billy Mae Carter. A good runner of this terrain and she kept up well the the front runners, however she faded slightly towards the end completing her leg in 10 mins 04. The second leg was completed by Hattie Jackson, Hattie loves this kind of terrain and always looks forward to hill training! A fast finish in 9 mins 28. Our tail end runner was Isla Kolbert who stormed off in pursuit of the runners in front, passing a number and finishing in 9 mins 24. The overall the team finished 57rd of 70 teams.

 

Our 3rd team was under 17 girls. Due to COVID, only 2 were able to compete. The first runner was Abbie Davies who put in a good performance keeping up with the second half of the field over the 2.5k leg, finishing in 13 mins 29. Our second leg was completed by Charlie Blair, determined to pass as many runners as possible she ran a great time of 10 mins 59. The team result was 58th of 98 teams.

 

A huge well done to all that competed for the club!

 

We have a lot of people who train with the club, we would like you compete in competitions!!

 

On Sunday 21st November, we are hosting the Lincs League Cross Country at the LOCAL venue in Stroxton Village.

 

Please let team manager Dave Eldridge if you can compete! We also require helpers/marshalls, please volunteer and help support the club.

 

The next Lincs League Cross Country will be held at Louth on the 5th December.

The next Midlands League Cross Country will be at Heanor on the 4th December.

And our Cross Country Championships will be held on the 2nd January 2022, look out for the entry forms.
